This is an opportunity for you to explain what you hope to achieve from counselling, ask any questions, and see whether you feel I am the right counsellor for you.
Our first session is all about getting to know each other and seeing if we’re a good fit. It’s a little different from other counselling sessions, as it’s an introductory assessment. This 60-minute session is slightly longer than a standard counselling session, allowing us more time to discuss how we might work together. I’ll also explain more about the counselling process, including confidentiality, boundaries, and what you can expect.
You’ll have the space to share what’s bringing you to counselling and what you hope to achieve. I’ll ask questions about your life, relationships, and experiences, and together we’ll begin to understand your situation and identify areas we might focus on.
This session is also your chance to ask any questions you have and get a sense of whether counselling feels right for you and whether I am the right counsellor for you. There’s absolutely no pressure to continue if you feel we are not a good fit.
As your counsellor, I'll strive to understand and empathise with your feelings and experiences, helping you explore the difficulties you're facing. This process can lead to a deeper understanding and acceptance of yourself, easing pressures and empowering you to make positive changes.
